PGAV was hired to evaluate Empire District Electric’s current facilities, operations, and projected growth, and to formulate a facilities plan to address functional inadequacies, maximize operational efficiencies, and accommodate expansion of the organization.

As a result, Empire’s new Service Center consolidates administration, engineering design, construction operations, line operations, metering shops, transformer shops and material warehouse support, and fleet functions in an efficiently planned new facility. The building complex provides a successful combination of state-of-the-art office, technical, shop and field support spaces. The shop space includes a 10,000 square foot transformer and meter facility where repairs, analysis, repainting and calibration, and fabrication are performed. Energy conservation, indoor air quality and operational safety were primary concerns in the building’s design.
