Fort Hays State University’s Hammond Hall uses the communications infrastructure of the 21st century to link three critical university offices: (1) the Department of Informatics; (2) the Virtual College; and (3) the Center for Teaching Excellence and Learning Technologies (CTELT). The first-floor Department of Informatics includes three primary “hands on” digital learning areas: computer labs, a telecommunication lab, and video/audio labs. The second-floor Virtual College and CTELT offices house the production and technological delivery of faculty’s course content.
Hammond Hall’s native limestone and prairie style architecture complement the adjacent Rollins Center and create a welcoming campus presence. The building literally bridges native Big Creek providing unique collaborative student study areas and College offices with generous daylight and views into the natural surroundings.
