The Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s Forensic Science Center on the Washburn University campus reflects the collaborative vision of the KBI and Washburn to provide unmatched facilities for criminal investigation while also serving as a catalyst for workforce development in the region.
The new facility provides modular laboratory space for the KBI’s investigative units including analytical chemistry, biology (DNA) and digital forensics. In addition, chemistry and biology teaching laboratories and student/faculty research laboratories support the University’s forensic science programs. The building’s public areas include an auditorium and artifact displays for each investigative unit. The three-story structure is clad in Kansas Limestone and is a prominent government building in the State’s Capital.
