Since its opening in 1989 the Anschutz Library has become a case study for successful library transformation in the digital age. Flexibility for future reconfiguration was a primary driver in the Library’s design and strategies for maximizing the adaptability of the Library included a modular space plan supported by raised access flooring. A two-story daylit atrium provides a community living room for informal study and learning.

Over the years, the Library has seamlessly adapted to continual change with low renovation costs and minimal operational disruption. As the Library has evolved, print collections have been incrementally replaced by a variety of popular student study and learning spaces including the iQ Café and the Learning Studio.
