Cunningham Center

MidAmerica Nazarene University
Olathe, Kansas

A vibrant campus center on the MidAmerica Nazarene University campus was identified during a PGAV-led master planning process as an important first step in transforming the student and visitor experience on the MNU campus. Following the development of the master plan, PGAV was engaged by MNU to evaluate the existing campus center, a one-story structure built in 1970. A range of alternatives was explored involving combinations of new construction, renovation, and demolition to maximize value for the university and maintain uninterrupted student services, including dining. MNU elected to construct a new building and commissioned PGAV to design the new 44,600 SF campus center. Prominently sited as a gateway to the campus, the Cunningham Student Center houses important services and programs for students and campus visitors including a welcome center/lobby; student study and collaboration spaces; conference center; dining services; student development services; student health and wellness services; admissions and enrollment; Associated Student Government; campus retail store; and outdoor patio and gathering spaces.
