For nearly 40 years, PGAV has been working with UMKC Libraries to transform the 1960s era Miller Nichols Library into a vibrant 21C academic research library. This work has included several renovation projects on the library’s third floor, including:
A new shared suite for the Kenneth J. LaBudde Special Collections and Edgar Reading Room, including temperature and humidity controlled secure stacks, a spacious processing area, and a daylit reading room with large tables for researchers to spread out and interact with delicate materials
A new home of the Sutton Geoscience Museum
A new tenant space for the State Historical Society of Missouri, including a public reading room, reference desk, exhibit cases, conference room, and processing space for staff
A new Center for Digital Humanities, including studio space for video/audio recording and post-production, project room for collaboration, and open workspace
A new connection linking the library and the adjacent Miller Nichols Learning Center
